We can come out and inspect your equipment within 48 hours in emergency situations.

X and Y Axis Ball Screws
X and Y Axis Ball Screws

The X and Y Axis Ball Screws used on Amada Turret Punches are quite well fabricated. The most common being Japanese made Tsubaki motion system components. These are generally well made, but some of these systems have plastic end caps and bearing recirculation systems which are prone to wear or breakage. Others are all metal ball nut assemblies, which are nearly infinitely rebuildable if kept clean and well lubed. This difference between plastic and metal components will influence the price and speed of your Amada Turret Punch ball screw repair. As sometimes disassembly requires extra time and care, or having replacement parts on hand prior to repair.

While most of the Amada Turret Punch line can be accurized and refurbished in one single production shift, there are some exceptions such as the Amada Vipros III series of punches. These heavy duty work horses have exceptionally beefy motion systems and structures surrounding them requiring major surgery to get access to the ball screws. This machine for example would require nearly 8 hours to service one axis. It is the servicing of these more unique machines that keep us from flat rate pricing the entire Amada Turret Punch line.

Some of the smaller Amada Turret Punches can have their entire X & Y ball screw systems serviced in 4-5 hours enabling two machine to be serviced in a single production shift. We have been accurizing these machines for almost two decades now. Multiple machine discount pricing is available. When scheduled in advance, Ballscrew Guys can easily set your company up with an annual or biannual Turret Punch motion system preventative maintenance program.

Linear Way Guide Service
Linear Way Guide Service

The most common issues with X-Axis ball screw service on Amada Turret Punches are broken lubrication ports, broken aluminum lube lines, or fittings hidden under grease or a steel panel. The Tsubaki ball nuts are fairly stout, so even if left without lubrication, the highly worn screws can be rebuilt. Another issue on the X-Axis which may come up during the refurbishment process is the linear way guide (LWG) systems. It is not too uncommon that the LWG sliders or blocks are worn or starved for lubrication. The purpose of the LWG system is to move the material smoothly back and forth across the X-Axis without friction. If these systems are dry of lubricant, the additional friction load will affect the quality of your punched sheet causing extra strain on the servo motor. Linear way guide service is not included in standard ball screw refurbishment pricing.
